South Lake Tahoe to Sacramento Airport Transportation improves

People interested in visiting South Lake Tahoe will have another way to get there via Sacramento starting this month.

Beginning on March 1, the Sacramento International Airport will offer a shuttle twice a day from both terminals to the South Shore of Lake Tahoe. Initially, a round-trip shuttle will cost $99, but the regular rate will be $65 each way.

The shuttle will stop at the Embassy Suites, Montbleu casino, Harvey's casino and Harrah's casino in Stateline, Nev., airport spokeswoman Karen Doron said.

When visitors come to the area without cars, getting around between lodging, entertainment, shopping, restaurants and ski resorts in the Basin becomes a large challenge.

The airport doesn't know what the interest will be for the shuttle, but it plans to adjust timing as interest is gauged.

Shuttles from Reno International Airport to the North Shore are already available.
